Badrutt's Palace Hotel

El Original Winter Wonderland

Glamorous Alpine lujo with snowy peaks, ski vibes, and fairytale scenery—this is where winter tourism was literally invented.

In 1864, hotelier Johannes Badrutt made a bet with four British summer guests: come back in winter, and if you don't love it, I'll pay for todo. They came, they fell in love with the snow-covered Alps, they stayed for months, and winter tourism was born. That audacious wager changed travel para siempre, chica, and Badrutt's Palace has been the epicenter of glamorous Alpine escapes ever since.

Overlooking the frozen Lake St. Moritz with the Engadin Alps as a backdrop, this grand dame of Swiss hospitality combines old-world elegancia with modern lujo in a way that feels completely natural. The palace towers rise against snow-capped peaks, crystal chandeliers sparkle in grand public spaces, and the legendary King's Club nightclub has hosted celebrations for royalty, celebrities, and the international jet set for decades. todo here whispers of a more glamorous era while delivering every contemporary comfort.

St. Moritz itself is a destination unlike any other. At 6,000 feet above sea level, the air is crisp and clean, el sol shines an average of 322 days per year, and the scenery is so espectacular it hardly seems real. The town has hosted the Winter Olympics twice and continues to attract those who understand that skiing is as much about style as sport. This isn't a mountain village that became fancy—this is where fancy came to las montañas.

Las Habitaciones

The rooms and suites at Badrutt's Palace range from elegante to extraordinario, with many offering private balconies where you can sip morning coffee while watching el sol paint the Alps in shades of pink and gold. The design blends classic Swiss lujo with contemporary touches—think handcrafted wooden furniture, sumptuous fabrics, and marble bathrooms with heated floors that feel heavenly after a day on the slopes. Suites offer separate living areas, some with fireplaces, and the Presidential Suite is the stuff of legend.

Request a room facing las montañas for the most espectacular views, or choose a lake-facing room to watch the frozen surface come alive with winter activities. Every room features the kind of thoughtful details that define true lujo—fresh flowers, turndown service with Swiss chocolates, and staff who remember your preferences from the moment of your second request.

El Spa

The Palace Wellness center is a sanctuary after days on the mountain. An indoor pool with floor-to-ceiling windows offers views of the surrounding peaks—swimming laps while watching snow fall on the Alps is an experiencia that stays with you. The spa offers treatments that combine Swiss precision with global wellness tradiciones, using products that draw on Alpine botanicals and cutting-edge skincare science. After a morning of skiing, the sauna and steam rooms restore tired muscles, and the relaxation lounges invite you to simply be still.

Fitness facilities are state-of-the-art for those who want to complement their ski conditioning, and personal trainers can design programs tailored to your mountain goals. The belleza salon offers services that ensure you look as polished as your skiing, because in St. Moritz, appearances matter—elegantly, of course.

La Gastronomía

Dining at Badrutt's Palace spans from Michelin-starred elegancia to cozy Alpine comfort. Le Restaurant offers refined cuisine in a setting of crystal and candlelight, with a menu that showcases lo mejor of Swiss and international gastronomy. IGNIV by Andreas Caminada brings the celebrated chef's sharing concept to las montañas—innovative dishes designed to be passed around the table, creating convivial dining experiences that match the hotel's social atmosphere.

For something more casual, the Renaissance Bar serves lighter fare in a setting dripping with old-world charm, while Chesa Veglia—the hotel's historic restaurant in a 350-year-old farmhouse—offers fondue and raclette in the most atmospheric setting imaginable. After dinner, the King's Club beckons for those who want to dance until dawn in Switzerland's most legendary nightclub.

Ski directly onto some of el mundo's best slopes from the hotel's ski room, where staff prepare your equipment and ensure todo is ready for the mountain. The Corviglia ski area offers runs for every level, from gentle groomers to challenging black runs, all with views that distract you from your form. Return in the afternoon for fondue by the fire and spa treatments that melt away the mountain chill.

In summer, the frozen lake transforms into a playground for sailing and paddleboarding, while las montañas beckon for hiking and mountain biking. Golf at the highest course in the Alps, take scenic drives through dramatic passes, or simply sit on a terrace with a glass of wine and wonder how anywhere could be this hermoso. The Glacier Express scenic train departs from nearby, offering one of the most hermoso rail journeys in el mundo through tunnels, over bridges, and past scenery that defies description.

Tips de Sofía

Visit during the Snow Polo World Cup in January for the most glamorous scene imaginable, chica—polo played on a frozen lake with the Alps as backdrop, champagne flowing, and the international elite in their finest furs and cashmere. It's surreal and espectacular. Request a room with a balcony facing las montañas; the sunrise over the Alps is pure magia and worth waking early to witness.

The King's Club is legendary and worth one late night out—this is where the after-ski scene reaches its most sophisticated expression. Pack your chicest ski outfit because St. Moritz is as much a fashion show as it is a ski resort. The Swiss franc is strong against most currencies, so budget accordingly—but know that Swiss quality matches Swiss prices. And take the Glacier Express at least one direction; the eight-hour journey through the corazón of the Alps is among the most hermoso rail experiences on Earth.

Switzerland showed me that elegance and nature can coexist.
